What qualifications do you have as a licensed social worker?

Adrienne M. Shabazz has been licensed through the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners since 1995. Her qualifications exceed the minimum standards as set forth in the Texas Family Codes. She has performed well over 500 court ordered child custody evaluations and adheres to social work values, principles and methods.

Can you assist with navigating the legal aspects of adoption or child custody proceedings?

No. However, although Adrienne Shabazz is not an attorney, she works closely with private family law attorneys who provide legal assistance and advice for legal maters, and are experienced in advocating for the best interests of children in adoption proceedings. She will be happy to make a referral.

What is involved in a child custody evaluation/home study?

A child custody evaluation, also known as a home study, typically involves interviews, observations, and assessments to determine the suitability of a living environment for a child. This process includes evaluating the family, speaking to collateral references, interviewing children 4 years old and over in the home. Criminal and CPS background checks are conducted as well.
